  • Course information

    This course is an e-learning platform to learn English as a medium of instruction for lecturers prior to and during the instruction in the international classes. Not only as a learning material during the training, but also this platform is also provided as self-learning materials after the trainings.

    At the end of this course, the participants are able to:

    - Use English to begin class

    - Use English to deliver the lesson content

    - Use English to end class 


  • Meeting 1: Small Talk 1

    In this lesson, we will practice English to:

    • Get to know each other
    • Talk about hobbies and interest



    • Meeting 2: Small Talk 2

      Before the lesson, please search for information about another country's culture and provide a presentation to share in the lesson.

      In this lesson, we will practice using English to:

      • discuss cross cultural understanding
      • talk about Indonesian cultures
      • Do's and Dont's of other countries and Indonesian cultures

      • Meeting 3: Small Talk 3

        Before lesson: Prepare how to talk about your research interest in English. Find some key terms that might help you to explain it in English.

        In this lesson, we will practice using English to:

        • talk about personal details
        • talk about educational backgrounds
        • talk about research interest


        • Meeting 4: Small Talk 4

          Before lesson: provide information about the course you teach and find key terms in English that might help you to explain it to other participants

          In this lesson, we will practice using English to:

          • talk a brief about your teaching subject
          • ask and respond to questions (related to the teaching subject)



          • Meeting 5: Beginning the lesson

            In this lesson, we will practice using English to:

            • Greetings
            • Introductions
            • Time to begin
            • Register 
            • Dealing with lateness
            • Lead in
            • Ice breaking
            • Lesson plan
            • Learning contract 


            Note: 

            • Participants practice begin the class using their materials


            • Meeting 6: During the lesson

              In this lesson, we will practice using English to: 

              • Common instructions
              • Classroom managements
              • Online classroom managements

              Practice of during the lessons

              Note: Participants practice giving common instructions and doing class managements during the class using their own teaching materials



              • Meeting 7: Ending the lesson

                In this lesson, we will learn how to end class including:

                Inviting and dealing with questions

                - Summing up

                - Set up home works and assignments

                 

                Practice of ending the class

                Participants practice inviting and dealing with questions, concluding lessons, and setting home works




                • Rehearsal 1

                  Before lesson: Prepare your teaching material for 20 minutes of teaching practice.

                  In this lesson, we will have a full practice of what we have learned (beginning, during, ending the class) to deliver our teaching material in English. 

                  We will do 20 minutes of Micro-teaching with the following parts:

                  5 min (pre), 10 min (whilst), 5 min (post)

                  Video record your performance for a self-reflection.


                  • Rehearsal 2


                    Before lesson: Prepare your teaching material for 20 minutes of teaching practice.

                    In this lesson, we will have a full practice of what we have learned (beginning, during, ending the class) to deliver our teaching material in English. 

                    We will do 20 minutes of Micro-teaching with the following parts:

                    5 min (pre), 10 min (whilst), 5 min (post)

                    Video record your performance for a self-reflection.
