Course Description
English for Academic Reading course aims to improve students' ability to comprehend academic reading texts in English and improve students' understanding in doing the Reading section on the TOEFL test. The materials you will learn in this course include:
1. Reading Techniques: Skimming and scanning
2. Reading Comprehension
- Understanding main idea in a text
- Understanding stated and unstated detail information in a text
- Understanding implied detail information in a text
- Understanding vocabulary in context in a text
Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, students are able to:
1. Apply speed reading techniques in understanding English academic texts.
2. Apply strategies in understanding English academic texts.

Course Structure
In this course, students must attend lectures for 14 meetings online, both synchronously and asynchronously. In each sub-learning objective, students must study the material independently asynchronously and take the quiz in Lensa. In the next meeting, students and lecturer discuss the material and discussed the quizzes that students had done before synchronously.

The following are the details of the assessment components in this course:
1. Assessment 1: 20%
2. Assessment 2: 20%
3. Daily Tasks (6): 40%
4. Assignment 1: 10%
